Mark Lipka is an accomplished American comic book artist, known for his inking work across a multitude of well-known comic franchises. His portfolio includes high-profile titles such as Batman, Star Wars, Justice League of America, Wolverine, Gambit & Bishop, Green Lantern, Swamp Thing, Aliens versus Predator, and Daredevil, among others.

Lipka's foray into professional comic work began in 1991 with Rock Fantasy Comics, under the publication of Michael Valentine Smith. His inaugural work involved a unique storyline where Mick Fleetwood (of Fleetwood Mac) tutored Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath) in the magical arts. Despite remaining unpublished, this endeavor marked the inception of Lipka's comic career.
Throughout the 1990s, Lipka lent his talents to several independent comic book publishers, while also engaging in commercial art projects. During this time, he was mentored by fellow artists and friends Karl Waller, who resided near Lipka in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Nathan Massengill. Lipka's first published work with a major publisher came in 1997 with "Savage Dragon: Sex & Violence" for Image. Shortly after beginning The Savage Dragon project, Lipka was mentored by Brian Stelfreeze.
Lipka's trailblazing role within the comic industry earned him the moniker "the Jackie Robinson of CrossGen comics." He holds the distinction of being the first freelancer to work for CrossGen, a company initially intending to utilize only in-house artists for their publications.
